4 Best Caribbean Islands Without Seaweed To Visit In July 2024

Sharing is caring!

Pristine beaches, tropical weather, stunning landscapes, and easy access from the major U.S. cities – the Caribbean is an ideal vacation destination for many reasons.

However, as many of you might know, the sargassum season has just started and many beautiful Caribbean islands must face the invasion.

Yet, some places are less affected than others, and we know what they are. If you still don’t wanna ditch your dream-like vacation in paradise this July, read on. So if you want to avoid sargassum you know where to go.

Aruba

Eagle Beach

If your idea of the perfect vacation involves great food and good vibes, put Aruba on top of your list. Not only does the island boast a diverse culinary scene, from international dishes to local delicacies, but Arubans are also known for their outstanding hospitality.

They will make you feel right at home the minute you arrive. What’s more, thanks to more than 90 nationalities living there, you don’t have to worry that the conversation won’t flow – many locals speak several languages, including English, Dutch, Spanish, and Papiamento.

Aruba is also home to some of the best world beaches, such as Eagle Beach and Palm Beach, known for soft white sands and calm waters. And, of course, no sargassum.

Curacao

Curacao is another attractive destination that is usually sargassum-free, even in summer. It offers outstanding beaches, rich marine life, and plenty of activities to engage in.

If you feel like being active, you can enjoy an array of watersports, from swimming, snorkeling, and diving to surfing and windsurfing. History buffs can discover its capital – Willemstad – which is, in fact, a UNESCO World Heritage site. And party animals won’t come short either – Curacao also has a fantastic nightlife.

On top of that, compared to other Caribbean islands, Curacao isn’t that expensive. You can stay in one of the world-class resorts or vacation villas without breaking the bank.

Isla Mujeres

Mexico is one of the regions that gets hit with sargassum pretty badly, but there is still one spot the unpleasant blob seems to avoid – the magnificent Isla Mujeres.

It’s easily accessible from Cancun – the ferry leaves from the nearby Puerto Juarez every 30 minutes, from 5:00 am until 9:30 pm. Then, you can dive straight into the summer – laze on the beach, swim, dive, or go fishing. Seeking a bit of adrenaline? You can also swim with whale sharks.

Even though the island is rather small, there are plenty of accommodation options, from hostels like Selina and boutique hotels to luxury high-end resorts. The best ones from the whole of Quintana Roo can be actually found on Isla Mujeres.

Anguilla

If you’re rather looking for something more tranquil and relaxed, then opt for Anguilla. This hidden gem has yet not been discovered by the crowds and is therefore renowned for crystal-clear turquoise waters and powder-white beaches without seaweed.

For that reason, it’s a popular choice among honeymooners or couples with small babies. And many resorts in Anguilla feature great facilities for bigger kids, too, such as clubs, swimming pools, or direct access to the beach.

Foodies will also fall in love with Anguilla. Its fresh, authentic seafood is simply out of this world, especially the local crayfish. For fine dining, visit Meads Bay. Oh, and did we mention the remarkable diving opportunities?
